PhD: Relationship between maturity of integrated management systems and sustainable performance

Goal: The present work aims to verify whether companies presenting more maturity in management system integration present more sustainable performances

Abstract: An evaluation instrument was developed to evaluate integration maturity and sustainable development. It was applied as a survey in Brazilian companies presenting at least two of the following management systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Results show that companies can achieve more sustainable development if they invest in better management system integration. Company size was found to affect sustainable development and companies presenting less maturity in management system integration achieve better environmental and social performance as their size increases. Lastly, companies presenting more than one management system were found to present better environmental and social performance.

MSc: Assessment of the maturity degree of Integrated Management Systems (IMS)

Goal: Develop a tool that assesses the maturity degree of an IMS

Abstract: Due to the benefits that integration offers, it is important to have an instrument to assess the degree of maturity of Integrated Management Systems (IMS). With such information it would be possible to plan improvements and reach a greater integration. This work presents a tool that assesses the maturity degree of an IMS. An exploratory review as well as a systematic literature review about IMS were performed. In addition, a literature review on maturity models was also conducted.  Afterwards, the tool was assessed by academic experts and industry professionals.
